Music can bring people together. It can say so much more beyond the melody and lyrics, and no one knows that better than Griffin’s family. Griffin was diagnosed with Congenital High Airway Obstruction Syndrome, a rare genetic disease characterized by a complete blockage of the airway at birth. Because of this, Griffin has always had to have a special tube in his airway to help him breathe. When he was eleven months old, he faced another hurdle when cardiac arrest left him with a severe brain injury.

However, Griffin has never let anything deter him from communicating with his family. With the help of machines, he’s able to let his family know what he wants. In true Griffin style, the very first thing he asked for was music. Whether it’s jamming out to Mom and Dad’s favorite rock songs or learning along with Cocomelon, he can’t get enough! His absolute favorite is when his grandma or nurse sings his favorites live.

So, on his special day, the whole family warmed up their pipes to sing Griffin Happy Birthday! His second birthday was celebrated at home surrounded by his family, and everyone was able to enjoy a slice of his superhero themed cake!
