Cancer Princess Warrior Lexy

Cancer Princess Warrior Lexy

Cancer Princess Warrior: the perfect name for a beautiful 16-year-old princess who has fought the battle against multiple cancers for 15 years!

Alexa Naomi delos Reyes, dubbed Cancer Princess Warrior, is nothing short of an amazing and persevering young lady. Since Lexy was 13 months old she has had brain cancer, with an inoperable tumor.  She also has Neurofibromatosis Type 1, a genetic disease is characterized by changes in skin pigmentation and the growth of tumors along nerves in the skin, brain, and other parts of the body. Alexa has endured 11 brain surgeries, a brain shunt, feeding tubes, pneumonia, MRSA, and becoming completely blind from one of her brain surgeries. Yet, Alexa still maintains and lives by her NEGU (Never Give Up) motto.

Alexa’s mother Monica and the rest of her family have never given up on their Cancer Princess Warrior. Monica has made it her business to seek the top doctors. She has taken Alexa to several trials for many different treatments. Very few were successful but still she has not given up. She has searched for a cure through five different states, hopeful that something, anything, will save her Princess Warrior.

Lexy’s community and Facebook supporters have not given up on her either. When her community of supporters heard her Sweet 16 was approaching, every one came together to give her a piece of her dream and threw her the best Hawaiian Luau Sweet 16 birthday party ever. They brought all the decorations and an artist, Elena, donated Alexa’s party outfit. Elena is an artist creating paintings to donate to children that have cancer. Alexa’s dream has always been to visit Hawaii.  She often fantasizes about what she would do on a trip to Hawaii, like drinking out of a coconut cup with an umbrella to top it off. When Lexy’s mom Monica spoke to Sugar Angels Laura and Mark of L & M Cake Studio, she mentioned the coconut drink. So L & M created a small coconut drink cake especially made for Lexy. The coconut drink even included a “Happy Birthday” message in braille, so that Lexy could read it! L & M also created a chic Hawaiian themed two tiered cake with beautiful Hawaiian flowers and golden pineapples.

This Cancer Warrior Princess was over the moon to receive such love and support from all of her friends and family. This was a chance to feel what it would be like to visit Hawaii even if just for a moment. To see more of her journey, visit Princess Lexy on facebook.
