It’s All About the Smiles: From the Hearts of our Medical Families
Please enjoy reading some feedback from the hearts of our medical families!
ALYSON
“This is Alyson’s second time receiving an Icing Smiles dream cake for her birthday! We are very honored and blessed to have been given this amazing and delicious cake baked by Lyssette from Cakes by Lyssette. She did an awesome job creating this beautiful cake for our daughter Alyson. Ally has a very complex medical condition called Pentalogy of Cantrell. It’s a midline defect that affects the heart (CHD of Tetralogy of Fallot), a short (cleft) sternum, diaphragm (a diaphragmatic hernia), and abdominal section (omphalocele major organs outside the body). She has had 4 major surgeries and spent the first 2 and a half years of her life in and out of the hospital. On this day we celebrated her 3rd birthday and are hoping for a hospital free 2017!! “Ally Hugs” to all of the amazing Icing Smiles volunteers who keep this organization up and running for families like ours!”

ZAYDIA
“Zaydia battled leukemia a month after she turned 1. She is a very strong little girl. A couple of months after receiving cheomotheraphy she had an allergic reaction to one of the drugs that actually made her go into cardiac arrest. It took them 25 minutes to revive her. I thank God for that miracle and also the help of the doctors and nurses. I couldn’t imagine my life without her. I would like to say thank you so much to Icing Smiles and the bakers that help put smiles not just on Zaydia’s face, but all kids around the world and for making their very own special cake come true.”

AXEL
“Axel was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January 2016. He is already in maintenance until 2019. He has had many sad days of hospital and chemotherapies but he is a very strong and blessed child.”

KHALIA
“Khalia was born with Sickle Cell disease. Sickle cell is a genetic blood disease where the red blood cells are shaped like a banana (sickle) and don’t pass easily through the veins. This stops oxygen from getting to organs and to tissue which causes extreme pain. The average life span for an individual with Sickle Cell is 23-48 years. So, the opportunity to receive a Bone Marrow Transplant came about. Currently Khalia is undergoing the BMT and it is a tough process. To see her SMILE at the baker’s creation for her 19th birthday will be a memory I/we will cherish for life! THANK YOU Icing Smiles!”
