DEVIN
“In September 2015, Devin started having migraines. We figured it was just genetic because his mother had them as well. Fast forward to February 2016 and the Children’s ER where migraines were bad and caused numbness and memory fog. A mass was found on the CT and after 2 brain surgeries it was successfully removed. Devin had to travel out of state for 31 doses of Proton Radiation followed by chemo for 6 months. He is now in remission and recovering physically since the surgeries disabled him. He’s a walking miracle! Our Icing Smiles baker was a dream to work with. The cake looked amazing and was delicious.”

PJ
“Around 9 months old, PJ was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia. This condition is an inherited, lifelong disease. Individuals with Sickle Cell Anemia do not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen throughout the body. Although there is no cure at this time for most people, treatments can relieve pain and help prevent further problems. At 1 years old, PJ was diagnosed with severe food allergies, followed by Eosinophilic Esophagitis. He eventually learned to walk at age 2 with the help of weekly Occupational Therapy and Orthotics. Physical therapy, speech therapy and feeding therapy continue to assist with his development delays. PJ also wears prescription glasses to help with his severe near-sightedness. On top of all those challenges, he also has asthma and Cerebral Palsy however, that does not stop him from being a happy child.”

SCARLETT
“On October 29, 2016 Scarlett was rushed to the ER for an abnormal lump on the left side of her stomach. On November 3rd she was diagnosed with stage 4 Clear Cell Sarcoma of the L kidney. This resulted in surgery to remove her kidney and a 10cm tumor that was connected to it. She then had 14 sessions of radiation along with a 30 week chemo treatment plan. Unfortunately, during treatment two new tumors where discovered and her treatment plan was thrown out the window. We waited 4 weeks to start the 2nd phase of chemo with no additional plan except to do scans every 3 weeks and make sure chemo is working. Thankfully the chemo has been working and her tumors have shrunk significantly and we can’t wait to finish up this bump in the road. Scarlett Cancervive this! Our Icing Smiles baker was very kind and made a huge impact on Scarlett’s birthday celebration.”

BRYCE
“My son Bryce was born April 24, 2014. Bryce was diagnosed with a rare heart condition. He has had three open heart surgeries, two stomach surgeries. In the future he may need more surgeries, but for now he is a thriving three year old boy. His favorite thing to eat is cake, and “cake” was also one of his first words. He adores Mickey Mouse so he was very happy with his Mickey Mouse cake contributed by Icing Smiles. We greatly appreciated it!”
