Eliana Turns 9!

Eliana Turns 9!

After a recurrence of a cancer-like condition earlier this year, Eliana’s birthday was something she was particularly excited about celebrating.

The Diagnosis

Eliana was initially diagnosed two years ago with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH). LCH is a rare, cancer-like condition that can form tumors and damage tissue, bone, and organs.  After receiving this diagnosis, Eliana had to undergo chemotherapy for a year until she finally received clear scans in September 2021.

No Longer in the Clear

Earlier this year, the family noticed a lump on Eliana’s collar bone and, after a PET scan, were informed that her LCH had returned in five different places throughout her body. This newest round of chemo is stronger and had her feeling pretty ill, but the excitement of her custom cake was able to turn things around — even if for just one day.

The Celebration

Icing Smiles Sugar Angel Cynthia C. helped the family celebrate Eliana’s 9th birthday with a beautifully decorated cake. The cake was covered with colors of bright green and pink, big pink and green flowers, and pink butterflies. Eliana was so excited and appreciative to receive this custom cake for her birthday. This experience and celebration with family has given her something to look forward to during this difficult time.

Eliana’s mom, Teresa, shared a little about their experience with Icing Smiles:

“She was so excited to have a custom cake made for her birthday. All of our guests thought it was so beautiful, and that made Eliana feel so special! Thank you for providing these beautiful cakes for our little ones. They go through so much, and these cakes really are a ray of light on their journeys.”
