Creative Sandi’s Gifts
Our volunteers do more than make cakes and cookies–volunteers make up our administrative team, schedulers, blog team and newsletter authors and more here at Icing Smiles. Sandi has been an Icing Smiles scheduler in the WI, NE, WY area since September 2019, connecting bakers to families deserving of a very special celebration.
Only making cookies and dabbling in cakes as a hobby since 2015, Sandi finally got up the courage to sign up to do cookies for the Icing Smiles Cookie Club. Sandi received her first call to action in January. She received the call to action from the Cookie Club coordinator with the only information given being the families name, address, gender and age. The rest of the details were left up to Sandi!
The cookies were for a six-year-old little girl and the call to action was right in time for a Valentine’s theme. With those things in mind, Sandi headed over to Pinterest for some inspiration. She then decided on a “Bee Mine” Valentine’s theme.
With limited resources, Sandi got creative! She used a candy corn cookie cutter to create a beehive and also used royal icing transfers. Also, she innovatively created a bee shape by putting two cookie cutters together and modifying them to look like a bee. Thus, making a beautiful and delicious set of “Bee Mine” Valentine’s cookies for a special little girl. Thank you Sandi, and thank you to our volunteers for helping families celebrate special moments with such beautiful and tasty treats!
