Benjamin’s Big Heart

Benjamin’s Big Heart

We welcome Benjamin’s mom as a guest blogger today to share her story.

Benjamin was born with multiple critical congenital heart defects. He was not supposed to survive his first year of life. When his first birthday arrived, it was reason for a huge celebration and Icing Smiles was lovingly part of it.

As we neared his third birthday this past September, it would be succeeding his third open heart surgery. Following his third open heart surgery in August, after being considered successful, he began spiraling downward rapidly and we almost lost him. By the grace of God and prayer warriors, we did not.

Benjamin’s contact precautions following surgery ended five days before his third birthday. We felt this was not a coincidence and a time to, in the truest meaning, celebrate his birthday and his life. We wanted to include as many people as possible to celebrate all those who continued to hold us up during the darkest hours and so we called on Icing Smiles to be part of this incredible celebration once again.benjamincake

Kimberly, our baker, went above and beyond. The cake was too beautiful to eat, but we did and it was beyond incredible. I knew the cake would be special, but when I saw the cake for Benji, it exceeded any expectations I could have anticipated. Kimberly was able to lovingly design and bake a cake that fully represented the exact celebration we were hosting. Thank you for all the incredible work and smiles you bring to so many.
