A Marvelously Super Heart

A Marvelously Super Heart

When Kolton’s mom was 20 weeks pregnant she was told she was having a boy! She also found out that her sweet baby was going to face some challenging medical issues early on. Eventhough they were aware of baby Kolton’s conditions, there was nothing that could prepare them for what was ahead.

Kolton was born on August 2, 2011 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Heterotaxy. He was sent directly to the hospital’s NICU and 3 hours later they transported him to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in an incubator. Three days later Kolton received his first open heart surgery. From August through December he went through a second open heart surgery, cath, and G-tube placement. He was finally discharged Christmas 2011 and has been home ever since!

Kolton is a very active and energetic 4-year-old! He loves to climb, color, dance, and sing his favorite songs. He is in preschool and keeps right along with the other kids. Most people don’t even notice he has had any surgeries.

As of now Kolton is nearing his third open heart surgery which will be in a few months. He has definitely come a long way and we look forward to seeing him bounce back with the same enthusiasm and excitement.PicsArt_10-13-01.02.41

Kolton’s mom shares, “All my experiences so far have been wonderful! Love what you guys do and anyone I come into contact with I always refer you guys (bakers or families)!” His “Marvel”ous super hero inspired cake was made by Sugar Angel Benjamin Stuckey at Baker Benjis Cakes And Desserts in Springfield, OH.
