Icing Smiles is more than an organization. We are parents. We are spouses and partners. We are employees. We are friends. We are VOLUNTEERS committed to service and Baking a Difference.
TRACY QUISENBERRY - Founder/Executive Director
Tracy's expertise is in the field of accounting and tax. She is a licensed CPA and has a master's degree in tax. Her experience includes work in the public sector and more than a decade of international tax experience with Marriott International, where she still works as a consultant. Prior to founding Icing Smiles, her experience in the baking industry was limited to watching the TV challenges and absorbing as many techniques as possible to create cakes for her two children, now ages 13 and 10. Tracy started Icing Smiles during a brief relocation to Columbus, Ohio. However, she and her family are now back in the Baltimore/Washington corridor.
ROSE CARVALLO - Operations Mangager
As a bakery owner and with a backgrond in social work, volunteering with Icing Smiles was the perfect fit for Rose Carvallo. Rose graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a degree in sociology. She spent the next several years working as a social worker for several nonprofit agencies. Rose took a break from work to raise her family and decided to go back to school to study pastry. Rose then started her own cupcake business. Rose loves working with the Icing Smiles' families and helping their children have the best birthdays ever! "I have never seen such brave and inspirational young people, as I have since volunteering with Icing Smiles. I am impressed and motivated to be a better person because of these kids, each and every day." Rose currently lives in the Chicago area with her husband, Steve, and her two teenage children.
CHER BORK - Development Manager
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Cher grew up around a community that embraces the value of philanthropy to change lives. With the backdrop of St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis provided Cher with a passion to help children and families. Though her career path led her through the entertainment industry, she consistently devotes her time to enriching children’s lives serving as Board Member for the Boys & Girls Club, teaching at inner-city after school programs and hosting several large-scale fundraising events for families in need. Her most important job has been mother to her two amazing children, now 5 and 2. Making her son’s second birthday cake, a self-proclaimed Cake Wreck, drove her to hone her decorating skills. After countless hours in the kitchen and in the classroom, Cher gathered a local following that grew into a cake decorating business. Always wanting to give back, Cher was led to Icing Smiles where she is able to channel her passion for helping children and families through her love of cake decorating.
